The charm of timeworn tones

Flowers, landscapes and imagined architecture share a palette of sepia, olive, indigo and burgundy in Vintage. Cream backgrounds and patterns lend a retro feel without making the works antique pieces. Choose an individual print to highlight a detail, or discover the relationship between the three images in each triptych.

How to style it

A retro detail in a present-day room

Vintage combines gardens, landscapes, arches and patterns without requiring period decor. Sepia and olive offer a muted base; burgundy and indigo introduce contrasts. An individual print lets you choose a flower, an architectural opening or a stretch of landscape as a focus; the triptych shows the relationship between the three images in each series.

Works with plenty of detail benefit from plain textiles and space around them. Try medium-toned wood alongside the cream backgrounds, and avoid repeating the image's chequerboard or floral pattern throughout the room. An individual print can share a wall with contemporary objects; for the triptych, leave an uninterrupted area that allows the eye to move across its three panels.
