The inspiration behind Sapphirine Fault II
A broad white area with blue fragments of angular outline. The composition sets angular fragments against white mineral-looking areas. Compared with other series of soft curves, here the changes of direction and irregular edges give blue a sharper, more concentrated presence. It is the centre panel of Sapphirine Fault, presented here as an individual print. The effects of texture or depth are visual, not relief or materials added to the matte paper.

Off-white and plain wood can moderate the sapphire contrast.
