The inspiration behind Tidal Tesserae II
Curved deep blue and white bands crossing the image diagonally. The tessera-like appearance introduces two scales of reading: the wave is perceived first, then its small fragments. Blues and whites maintain the contrast, while the curve prevents the set from reading as a rigid grid. This is the centre panel of Tidal Tesserae, presented here as an individual print. The effects of texture or depth are visual, not reliefs or materials added to the matte paper.
