The inspiration behind Old World Stripe I
The botanical motifs in the light band offer fine detail between blue and reddish stripes. The contrast between small drawing and continuous fields allows a reading of colour to alternate with a closer, more ornamental one. The colour bands offer a graphic structure in which the small botanical motifs introduce changes of rhythm. The image alternates continuous surfaces and areas of detail, combining blues, creams and reddish tones without giving every stripe the same weight.
