The inspiration behind Gallery Rose Triptych
Gallery Rose does not present a compact bouquet, but fragments of floral shapes that seem to continue beyond the frame. The petals shift from soft pink to burgundy and leave cream spaces between them that illuminate the composition. The dark lines offer a delicate counterpoint to the large masses of colour. Movement is perceived in the direction of the edges and in the way each panel shifts the motif. That combination of breadth and detail keeps the set expressive without filling it completely.
