The inspiration behind Blue Gesture Triptych
Blue Gesture relies on the direction of the stroke. Blue bands advance diagonally, change in thickness and leave breaks where the ivory background reappears. These open areas prevent the intensity of the colour from closing the composition. Cobalt provides weight, and sky blue introduces a lighter transition between the gestures. Instead of repeating an exact pattern, the three panels share momentum and contrast. The image retains the appearance of energetic brushstrokes within a flat print, without attributing an original technique or physical texture to the product.
